upcoming Christmas party
We've emailed a bit about this, but I wondered if not everyone is seeing the email (Melissa - it says "bounced" for yours - so that's one), so I thought I'd put a little something on the blog.
We're talking about Tues, Dec 13th, or thereabouts, for the Christmas party. Something in that week, anyway, if that works for everyone? I've only have one negative response for the 13th so far, so that might stick. But I'm open for the 14th or 15th as well, if those nights work better. So please take a look at your calendars and let me know!
It will be at The Manor again, like last year.
White Elephant gift exchange. (I promise, I'm done with embarrassing items. I have mine already, and it's not even remotely "questionable" in nature.)
Bring a treat to share (or did we want to do a dinner? soup & salad?).
Other gifting is entirely optional, so don't feel like you have to come up with something if that's not your thing, or if you're just feeling overwhelmed. Those of us that like to gift stuff won't be offended, promise.

Great Party - No Pics!
We had a great time at our party last week, but, somehow, nobody took any pictures!
(I even had my camera right there in my knitting bag, and I forgot to get it out.)
We did gifts right when we got there, before we ate or anything, which I think was nice, as it gave us time to ooh and aah over everything before anyone had to get going. Lots of creative, fun gifts! (Kiki, Michelle, and Margie - I have your gifts. Colleen - Sarah took yours. Missed you all!)
We ate, talked, laughed, and generally enjoyed each others company. So many good things to eat!
The white elephant exchange was a tad boring, to be truthful. Hardly anything was stolen, except the adorable Sesame Street shirt - I think we all wanted to take that home, Alisa!
And, I should really apologize...next year, my white elephant won't be in the least bit suggestive or unfit for mixed company. Promise. I'm all done with that. Really. (Not that I was the only offender there.)
We tried to talk about next year, and what to read, but we didn't get far with that. I'll let Sarah fill you in on our plans. Basically, we're thinking every other month, but couldn't decide do we start in Jan or Feb, so maybe we should all weigh in here? I vote Feb, but only because Jan is so very busy for me at work.
Either way, we all need to come up with some great books - so get thinking, ladies!
Have a Very Merry Christmas!

Happy Almost December Ladies!!!!!!
(excerpted from Michelle's email)
Book club will be Michelle's place Tuesday, December 15th at 7pm. We closed on our house the day before Thanksgiving, and move into it until December 12th. So, we'll have it at my new place. (will send out new address later)
Originally I wanted to read the book Marcy recommended, Two From Galilee, but after stopping at deseret book, seagull book, and barnes and noble with with no luck, I gave up. If you want, you can still read it and tell me all about it. or loan me your copy. :)
But I had a different idea. In an effort to simplify and to really focus on the Birth of our Savior this month, I came up with this little plan.
1. Read the December Ensign. Cover to Cover. Yes, come on, you can do it!!!
2. Share article(s) that touched you.
3. Come prepared to share the gift you want to give Christ this year.
In addition to that, we will be having a delicious pot luck dinner. How do I know it will be delicious? Because you ladies will be contributing! I'll provide the soup AND gourmet hot chocolate. (water with lemons and limes for those pansies who are still cutting back on their sugar)
we will need the following:
1. rolls
2.salad/fruits/vegetables
3.dessert
After our delicious meal we shall partake in the lovely tradition of a WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE!
So bring a WRAPPED white elephant gift.
And my final request? Come wearing the ugliest/funkiest/most festive Christmas Sweater. DI is calling your name. Oh wait, now Savers is. Who's it gonna be?
Best sweater (judged by Kyle) wearer gets a gift certificate to some wonderful place.
Love you ladies!
yours truly forever and ever,
Michelle

Bookclub Christmas Par-tay!!
Alisa- Blessed, Martina McBride
Becky- Band of Horses, No One's Gonna Love you (like I do)
Cumorah- Taylor Swift, Love Story
Francesca- Yummy, Gwen Stefani
Karen- Daughtry, Home
Kiki- Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World
Kristin- Elton John, Blessed
Laurel- Alanis Morisette, So Unsexy
Lisa- Enya,I will find you
Liz- Depeche Mode, It's no good
Margie- Jack Johnson, Banana Pancakes
Marcy- Jordin Sparks, One step at a time
Melissa- Ingrid Michaelson, the way I am
Michelle- Five for Fighting, Superman
Sarah- Journey, Seperate Ways
Coldplay- fix you (dedication from Sarah and Liz)
Moby- theme song from Bourne (Lisa's marathon song)
We will explain why we chose these songs in the reply section of this post. Some of you I couldn't get a hold of so I just chose a song for you. I think it is easier to choose a song that describes other people than it is to describe yourself.
We had such a great time together, laughing and having fun. We missed those of you who have moved or couldn't make it. Can't wait for another get together! I noticed Karen that you aren't in this group picture because you had to come late, so we'll get another group one next time!
Thanks for hosting it Lisa, your house is beautiful! Good Luck on that baby Melissa!
