I really loved this book! It's a youth fiction written in journal format from the perspective of a young maid to a princess/gentry. It's based on a Grimm fairy tale. It's such a fun and fast read. It was recommeded to me by a friend and now that I'm done, I'm passing it on to Melanie (13) who I know will love it, too. *Note about the author - she's an LDS woman but this is published mainstream - her books are very clean. Go buy this book or put your name on the long waiting list at the library. You won't be sorry. --Alisa

One of the books we're reading later this year as a book club- The Goose Girl- is by Shannon Hale. My sister-in-law says its really good.

thanks Alisa for letting me read this book. I totally love it and can't wait to read GooseGirl. Shannon Hale is a fabulous writer and she captures her characters so brilliantly. I was enthrawled with the book the whole way and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although I think it would have been cool if khan Tegus turned out to be My Lord the cat in the end cuz then he could say, "I was with you the whole time." okay so that's a little cheesy. But I did like the way it ended, perfectly how I would want it to end! READ THIS BOOK- YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
I really liked it. In fact, it reminded me of the book I recommended for book club this year, which is The Curse of Chalion. I'm excited for you all to read it. It's a grown-up version of the story of a lady's adviser.
