LOVED Uglies!
So when Laurel and Sarah came to visit Chicago (WE HAD SUCH A BLAST TOGETHER!!!)I got Uglies-- and I couldn't put it down. I want the next one! It was such a fun read. What did you guys think?
I really liked this book! I have Pretties and Specials on hold at Orem Library, but I am way down on the list. Popular books! I want Melanie to read it - I think it has a great message about how you shouldn't have to try to be the same as everyone else. And also that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Michelle, you're right about them only being 16. I guess my romances were really lame at that age too (nonexistent?). What I meant to say is that I thought it was just ridiculous how she thought the guy needed her (I can't remember the names now) after his dad died. But they'd just barely "hooked up." He would want to be with his mom, not some new romance, don't you think?
I do like the message that we're beautiful for who we are inside!!! It would be a good book for young women--heck, I still struggle with issues of "beauty" at age 27.

I thought it was slow at first and that the romance in it sucked, but I really wanted to read the next one by the end!
I'm so glad you've joined us online, Michelle!

I think it definitely paved the way for some future intense romance. Remember, these girls are just 16! I am sure if we just keep reading...
I need to go through the book and post some of my favorite quotes that really send a fabulous message of true beauty.
