The Giver by Lois Lowry
I just read this book last week. I'm wondering if any of the rest of you have read it. It's good but has some sad things in it, too. I'm wondering of those of you who have read it, what you took away from the ending. Hope or doom?
You don't know me,I'm a friend of Marcy's. I hope you don't mind me commenting. My mom had me read this when I was in junior high or high school. I really liked it. He has another book he wrote too that is similar. I can't remember if it is a continuation or not. They are both kind of weird but I liked them both.
This is one of my favorite books (Marcy you are right :). There are actually three books in the series (The Giver, Gathering Blue, and The Messenger). I understood the story better after reading all three books. Highly recomment!

Love the book! Did you know there was more?! I can't even remember the title, but there are two more books that follow it!!!
